Designed for ease of mounting, Fafnir wide inner ring ball bearings
carry radial axial and combination loads
The assembly consists of a single-row ball bearing with an inner ring that extends on both sides for
maximum
shaft support. The extended inner ring slips onto the shaft and is attached by a self-locking collar or setscrew
locking device. In either style, the bearing can be positioned easily on the shaft without shoulder, locknuts or
adapters.
Wide inner ring ball bearings are commonly supplied as inserts in housed units for greater
ease of mounting. The inner ring locking device attaches to the shaft, while bolt holes in the
housing simplify assembly to machine frames. Self-aligning features further facilitate installation.
Housed units include pillow blocks, flanged cartridges, cylindrical cartridges and take-up units.
The standard housing material is cast iron. Fafnir TDC® coated bearing inserts with
nickel-plated
or polymer SURVIVORTM housings resist corrosion in difficult operating environments.
